This has been a year of appreciations for us.
The major event is that Marylyn has retired from her office and
is beginning to appreciate her retirement.
(We are now sorting through 20 years of "office collectibles".)
Chris and Heather are settling down into their new and busy life in
Wisconsin. Steve has just accepted a post-doc position at
Wayne State in Detroit. We miss having them here.
Appreciations include seeing many, many wonderful friends at reunions
right here --- Ram's Head,
our college theater group; Los Arcos; another ragtime concert by Dick Zimmerman;
sailing with Spence and Carolyn; seeing Dick and Sondra
Hackborn again. Appreciations for the "reruns" as well ---
seeing the production of "Roberta" in San Francisco; Mike working backstage on
the local production of "Guys and Dolls".
Kevin and Brandy's wedding was another special occasion.
Our Italian class was a lot of fun, too.
Our grand journey this year was a two-week trip to Costa Rica,
guests on the Schultz's yacht. It was a great time, and we now know what
a rainy season is like in a rain forest.
And more sailing... Mike again sailed to Cabo San Lucas this fall from San Diego.
He also sailed up the California coast with the Schultz's...entering the
Golden Gate in heavy fog, which was definitely exciting.
We used our sailboat "Impetuous" a lot this year.
We have always especially liked Jon Carroll's Thanksgiving thoughts:
