How to get to the boat

     Yacht "Impetuous", Embarcadero Cove, Central Basin, Oakland

     Directions (from south):
       - North on Nimitz/880 to Oakland
       - Take "5th Avenue" exit in Oakland
       - This turns left, under the freeway
       - After going under the freeway, turn left.
         This puts you on Embarcadero (a frontage road), going south

      Directions (from SFO):
       - Go across the Bay bridge and go south on Nimitz/880
       - Take 16th Avenue exit and turn left on
         Embarcadero, going south
      
      From all of the above:
       - Go south a bit on Embarcadero.  You will see
         "Executive Inn" motel on right...slow down.
       - Just after Exec Inn is another motel, "Motel 6".  
         Turn right into the parking lot.  Park the car.
       - Walk south to the gate just to the west of the two-
         story grey building
       - Shout. Preferably something meaningful and
         descriptive, like "TIS is ready to sail!"

       - I'll come and get you

Sailing schedule

The overall schedule is:

Racing - EYC Friday Night Races

The main parameter is "committment", meaning ...sign up for a date and then be there. The racing skipper is counting on people showing up... no-shows can throw everything out of whack.

"Significant others" are definitely welcome, even on a last-minute basis.

Cell phone number on the boat is: 415-370-6136, active starting at 2:00 PM on racing days. Backup messaging approach is to leave a message at 650-236-3620 (my HP number)

Money? Bring some to pay for your dinner.

Clothing? It gets cool in the evening, so bring "layers". White-soled shoes are a must. Bringing your own sailing gloves is highly recommended, though we have some on the boat.

Drinks? Strictly BYO whatever you want for late afternoon. Generally, drinking during the race is a distraction, but is acceptable. I tend to wait until after the race. On these short, local races, I will not provide ice (as is generally done for the full-day races).

Snacks? Again, strictly BYO, to provide energy to get you through an active race and to a late dinner. On other races/cruises, we bring things to share and go for really nice snacks....for these Friday night races, it is up to each person to bring their own non-sharable stuff to get them to dinner time. Expect an eight o'clock dinner.
