Boat location

The boat is located at Marina Village, 1030 Marina Village Parkway, Alameda, California 94501.

Within the marina, it is located at Gate 9, slip H-34.

The Marina Village harbormaster office phone number is: 510-521-0905. It is open 7 days per week.
Marina Village security is provided 24/7. For assistance call 510-612-1493.

These maps and the instructions below are RECOMMENDED; search engines (Mapquest, etc.) do not give you sufficient details.

How to contact the boat

Call the boat cell phone. I provide the number via email.

How to get TO the boat

Getting to the boat is a challenge. If you have not been there before, allow additional time on your first visit, as the streets in both Alameda and in Oakland can be quite confusing.

Directions to the boat (from the south)

Go north on Nimitz/880 to Oakland
Take "BROADWAY/DOWNTOWN" exit in Oakland. It is the exit after Oak Street.
Merge quickly into left lane.
Turn left onto BROADWAY. Stay in left or center lane. The next turn comes up very quickly.
Turn VERY SHARP LEFT (120 degrees) to take the ramp toward ALAMEDA.
This turns left, under the freeway and into the WEBSTER ST TUBE which is the tunnel under the estuary.
Before you come out of the tube, you want to be in the LEFT lane.

Directions TO the boat (from SFO)

Go across the Bay bridge and go south on Nimitz/880. Take the SAN JOSE exitjust after coming off the bridge.
Take the exit toward BROADWAY/ALAMEDA.
Stay STRAIGHT to go onto 5TH ST.
You will go for a while here. Not very good signs
Turn SLIGHT LEFT under the freeway to take the ramp toward ALAMEDA.

Final approach

You come out of the Webster Street tube:
Turn SLIGHT LEFT onto CONSTITUTION WAY. Go 0.1 mile.
Turn LEFT at the light onto MARINA VILLAGE PKWY.
Go STRAIGHT through the next stoplight. The street will continue to curve to the left.
When you see the yellow "lane ending" sign, turn right onto MARINA VILLAGE PLAZA.
In front of you will be a large white metal sculpture. Drive toward it and turn right just before it.
You are now pointed directly at the harbormaster office.
Turn right into the parking lot. Park the car. No parking stickers are needed. Overnight parking is acceptable and safe.
Call on the cell phone. We'll come and get you
If you do not have a cell phone: then you (like Blanche DuBois) must "depend on the kindness of strangers" who will let you tailgate through the gate.
Go down the ramp, turn very sharp left at the bottom, turn right onto Pier H. Keep walking. "Impetuous" will be on the left, about 16 slips down, with the H-34 sign on the dock box.

How to get FROM the boat

To go south

Go LEFT on MARINA VILLAGE PKWY toward INDEPENDENCE DR. Go 0.2 miles
Turn RIGHT onto MARINER SQUARE DR. Go 0.1 miles
Turn SLIGHT RIGHT onto WEBSTER ST. This is a tricky left merge.
Go through the tube
On coming out of the tube, curve RIGHT onto 7TH ST.
Get in the CENTER lane, NOT the right lane Go THREE blocks
Turn RIGHT on MADISON (this is unmarked).
Get in left or center lane. Go under the freeway.
Immediately after going under the freeway, turn LEFT onto 5TH ST.
Go straight and merge onto I-880 S toward SAN JOSE.

To go north

Go LEFT on MARINA VILLAGE PKWY toward INDEPENDENCE DR. Go 0.2 miles
Turn RIGHT onto MARINER SQUARE DR. Go 0.1 miles
Turn SLIGHT RIGHT onto WEBSTER ST. This is a tricky left merge.
Go through the tube
On coming out of the tube, curve RIGHT onto 7TH ST.
Get in the RIGHT lane, NOT the center lane Go TWO blocks
Turn RIGHT on JACKSON. Go one block.
Turn RIGHT onto the I-880 N on ramp.
Merge onto I-880 N toward SAN FRANCISCO, etc.
